AJ Layon – that is me – has been at the University of Florida College of Medicine for the past 28 years – seems like a lifetime – as a trainee, faculty member, and as Chief of the Division of Critical Care Medicine. It is my honor to have been associated with the Gainesville Fire Rescue Service as their medical director since about 1995.
As of 15 September of 2011, I took up residence at The Geisinger Health System, in Danville Pennsylvania, as the Director of the multidisciplinary Critical Care Medicine group.
While my interests are primarily related to health care, health care reform, and ethical issues, as a citizen of our United States and our world, I will occasionally opine on issues of our “time and destiny”. The blog itself will be updated as time and clinical and administrative assignments allow.
In his Comment Rules (http://www.juancole.com/2005/11/comment-section-rules-comment-section.html), Professor Cole notes his preference for “meaty” content that adds to the discussion. Couldn’t have said it better. So if you respond, especially if you disagree, be serious, and factual.
